Ailene Thiel is an experienced global healthcare professional who has demonstrated successful leadership in the Medical, Hospital, Pharmaceutical and allied Healthcare industries.  She passionately promotes scientific, evidence-based, sustainable innovation in Healthcare.

Ailene’s career encompasses CEO and other Board-level roles in the UK, Europe, the US, Latin America, and the Middle East, including the UK National Health Service (NHS), a top global pharmaceutical company, a major multinational provider of pharmaceutical information and clinical decision support technology, and a leading provider of disruptive AI/ML analytics applied to Healthcare.

In her European senior management roles within Pharma, based in London, then Paris and subsequently Madrid, Ailene was responsible for minimising time to market for new medicines, maximising sales, and substantially increasing profitability for the company’s HIV portfolio across Europe. In this role, Ailene led a multinational team, comprising senior management from the areas of Discovery, Research & Development, Medical, Operations, Regulatory, Marketing, Sales, Reimbursement and Distribution.

Ailene has worked extensively with Regulatory Authorities, including the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK and The European Medicines Agency (EMA), as well as with global organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations (UN), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Currently Ailene is part of the 100 Days Mission https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/100-days-mission-to-respond-to-future-pandemic-threats, providing expert opinion on measures that will help prevent future pandemics.
